NPH D1 Scholastic League Session 2 Standouts
Another talent-filled weekend at NPH saw the D1 Scholastic League teams in action. Multiple players continued to make a name for themselves against top competition. Teams from all over Canada once again showcasing the depth of talent we currently have in Canada. Below is a list of some of the session’s standouts.
- 2026 6’10 F/C Caleb Zhu | Royal Crown | 22.7ppg, 15.3rpg, 2bpg
– Royal Crown’s big man was dominant all weekend long inside. Finishing hard at the rim, and was a very effective roller. Demonstrated a solid low-post game as well with good footwork and touch with both hands. Ability to hit a midrange jumper as well. Like his upside as a big-man prospect.
- 2027 6’2 G Kaiden Thomas | St. Judes | 24.6ppg, 4rpg, 42% 3pt
– Scoring machine for St. Judes putting up ridiculous numbers, especially in his first two games (28 points followed by 39 points). Strong downhill attacker and was knocking down his perimeter attempts. Tough cover. - 2026 6’5 F Yousaf Ahmed | Kings Heights | 23ppg, 18.7rpg, 6.3apg
– Fluid and lengthy athlete who played hard for Kings Heights. Extremely impressive numbers on the glass thru 3 games. Active rebounder with a quick second jump. Springy athleticism. Jumpshot was looking good too. - 2025 6’3 G Jaden Campbell | Cathedral | 21ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.5spg
– Tough guard with good combination of explosiveness and skill. Able to finish at the rim thru contact and create his own shot. - 2026 6’0 PG Andy Gemao | Royal Crown | 14.6ppg, 7.7rpg, 6.3apg
– Filipino U18 team member put on a show with his dazzling ball-handling ability and on-ball skills. Can break down his defender and makes quick decisions. Ability to create his own shot off the bounce and knock down some pretty tough takes. - 2027 6’2 PG Antonny Peraza Blais | NDL | 22ppg, 5apg
– Strong intangibles for a PG. Communicator and competitor. There are times when his team needs scoring he’s able to provide a lot of offence for them. Does a lot for his team from pushing the pace to hitting shots to setting up guys around him and defending. - 2026 6’2 G Tobias Kessie | Kings Christian | 29ppg, 8.5rpg, 3.5apg, 3.5spg
– Elite level scorer. Good iso ability with a crafty handle. Can get to his spots and rise up or finish thru contact at the rim. Good athlete with quickness and body control. - 2027 6’3 G Sarim Khan | St. Judes | 15ppg, 4rpg, 5spg, 3.5bpg
– High skill, IQ, feel for the game. Plays the game the right way and is very polished. Defensively I was impressed with his anticipation and timing on blocks/steals. Strong overall instincts. Can tell he puts major time into his game. - 2026 5’11 PG Jaylen Livingstone | JCM | 21.6ppg, 6.3apg
– Explosive scorer. An absolute bucket. Crafty ball handler with shifty quickness. A lot of range on his shotmaking ability. From floaters, to pullups, to creating space off the dribble. Type of scorer who can single handily carry an offence. Skilful passer too. - 2027 6’3 G Cordell Dias | Royal Crown | 16.3ppg, 5.3rpg, 3apg
– Scoring guard with good feel. Can play both off and on the ball which makes him that much more versatile. - 2025 6’5 F Anderson Amike | Kings Heights | 16ppg, 5rpg
– Good compete level on both ends. His defensive pressure on the ball stood out for me. Two-way player with high compete level is valuable on any team. - 2026 6’4 G Ryan Jones | St. Judes | 14.5ppg, 3.5rpg
– Athletic guard with good slashing and finishing ability. Ability to finish thru contact at the rim and make some acrobatic plays. Good overall scoring ability and size at the guard position. - 2027 6’4 G Dom Toth | Fort Erie | 12ppg, 4.7apg
– High IQ guard with good versatility. Does a little bit of everything from playmaking, scoring, defending, and initiating offence. - 2027 6’8 F Williams Wemeni | NDL | 13.3ppg, 5rpg
– High upside forward prospect with good fluidity and athletic tools. Shows flashes of a developing perimeter skillset. Long arms, makes for a versatile defender and rim-protector. Interesting to see how he pans out in the next few years. - 2027 6’4 G Kefa Irakoze | NDL | 9.6ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.6apg, 1.1spg
– Wasn’t as productive this session in terms of statistical output, but the eye-test never lies. Competitive guard who stands out physically. Effective with the ball in his hands playing the pick and roll and getting deep penetration. Tough to stop from getting downhill.
As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how many of these players continue their impressive play, and how many new ones emerge.
