Marcus Carr commits to Pittsburgh
Toronto, Ontario native Marcus Carr has announced his commitment to University of Pittsburgh for the 2016-2017 season. The Pitt Panthers compete in the ACC in NCAA D1.
Carr is the type of gritty point guard that improves the play of his teammates based on his hard work and determination. His older brother Duane Notice has shown the same grit during his time at South Carolina.

Carr battled through a torn ACL last year, sidelining him for his first year in Florida after transferring to Montverde Academy. Before heading South, Carr took home an OFSAA Championship with St. Mike’s College in Toronto with recent Harvard commit Danilo Djuricic and St. Bonaventure point guard Nelson Kaputo.
Carr, who spent time with the Team Canada juniors, was the floor general for the Northern Kings program this summer as they made their rounds on the AAU circuit.
“They’ve been recruiting him the longest,” Vidal Messiah, Head Coach of the Northern Kings, told Evan Daniels of Scout.com, referring to new Pitt coach Kevin Stallings and his staff, formerly with Vanderbilt.
“Marcus is a very loyal person,” he added. “He’s been with me since the 7th grade and loyalty had a lot to do with it. They never stopped recruiting him when he got hurt last year.”
Carr picked Kevin Stallings’ Panthers over Clemson, Cincinnati and Virginia Tech.
“From a exposure and fit standpoint the ACC is as good as it gets in college basketball,” Messiah said. “He has a chance to start right away and help usher in a new era in Pitt basketball.”
Pitt and Stallings also gained the commitment from another top point guard in Aaron Thompson from Paul VI High School in Fairfax, Virginia. Carr and Thompson will both be major pieces for Pitt over the upcoming years.
Carr joins a group of Team Canada members who made their commitments this year, including Djuricic committing to Harvard, Abu Kigab signing with Oregon and Lindell Wigginton heading to Iowa State.
