7’0 Dejan Kravic Invited to Serbian National Team

London, Ontario’s Dejan Kravic has been invited to the Serbian Senior National Team training camp.

The 7’0 skilled power forward is fresh of his NCAA career  at Texas Tech where he averaged 7.3 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 1.3 BPG on 50% from the field.

The Serbian national team had contacted him before, but this is the first official invitation to the program.

Director of the Serbian basketball federation Dragan Tarlac (played for the Bulls) extended the invitation to the Serbian-Canadian.

Kravic SerbiaInitially, Kravic thought it was a tryout for the “B” team featuring young Serbian college players, until he received a message from his friend that showed him the full list of attendees.

“I just had cold shivers down my spine…these are the guys I looked up to and for my name to be there, it’s amazing,” Kravic told North Pole Hoops.

“Receiving an invitation was one of the best feelings of my life to be honest.”

The competition will be tough with returning players such as Serbian captain 7’0 Nenad Krstic (former NBA vet now playing in Russia), 7’0 Ognjan Kuzmic (Golden State Warriors) and Miroslav Raduljica (Milwaukee Bucks).

Serbian media recently posted on article titled, “Who is Dejan Kravic?”

“Im the only unknown one there…everyone else knows each other,” he explained.

“It will be cool to play with these guys because I watched them play last year in the European Championships…I try to take things from their game. I woke up early to watch them play.”

It will be a valuable developmental experience for Kravic to be in the mix with high level players and coaches, where he will be pushed to see where he stacks up.

“I want to show them I belong and show them that they should track me,” said Kravic.

The seven-footer is also eligible to play for Canada, however as he mentioned in the video above, it comes down to who shows more interest.

Serbia has clearly taken the necessary steps to bring Kravic in the mix for training camp which will start in the beginning of July.

“People are wondering who Dejan Kravic is…I want to show them.”
