Western Mustang’s Andrew Wedemire Signs Pro Contract with Glasgow Rocks

GLASGOW,SCOTLAND–The Glasgow Rocks have secured their third major signing for the 2011/12 BBL season in the form of 6’6″ Guard/Forward Andrew Wedemire. Canadian born Wedermire has been part of the Western Mustangs (University of Western Ontario) for the past 5 years and will be looking to make his professional debut with the Glasgow Rocks this season.
 
In his final year at Western, Wedemire averaged 18.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game with his versatility being a major attribute to his all round game.
 
Glasgow Rocks Player/Coach Sterling Davis had the following to say about the new signing for the Rocks:
 
“Andrew had a very solid college career especially during his last two seasons. He has the versatility to play multiple positions on the floor which is always a good characteristic to have as a player and something I thrive on trying to recruit in. In addition he is a very smart kid and player that is hungry to prove himself within the professional ranks”
 
The Rocks have now confirmed three signings for the upcoming 2011/12 BBL Season with a hope of more to come in the next few days as the beginning of the season is only a few weeks away.
 
Glasgow Rocks General Manager, Daniel Bajwoluk, had this to say about Wedemire and the upcoming 2011/12 season.
 
“We are slowly getting to where we want to be for the start of the BBL season. Every signature is a step closer for us in establishing a team that can compete for Silverware this season. Wedemire brings with him a solid 6’6″ frame as well as a certified inside/outside game. His agility on the court is sure to be an asset and we are hoping that his size will pose match-up problems for our opponents”.
 

The Rocks tip-off their BBL Trophy season on the road as they travel to Newcastle on Friday 30th September. Their first Home Game of 2011/12 is to be held on Sunday 9th October at 5:00pm in Kelvin Hall against the Durham Wildcats.
 
The Rocks will also be hosting a Pre-Season Camp + Meet the Team on the 18th September 2011. This will be backed up with a pre-season fixture against the visiting USA Select team, to be held on Monday 19th September at 7:40pm in Kelvin Hall.
