ROLE SUMMARY
The Operations Manager reports to the leadership team and serves as a subject matter expert in NPH operational activities, ensuring that all processes and standards related to operations are followed, and guaranteeing the efficient execution of all NPH events. The Operations Manager works closely with cross-functional teams, such as leadership, marketing, and scouting to implement best practices, policies, and procedures related to operations. The Operations Manager is also responsible for leading and motivating the operations team, effectively communicating roles and responsibilities, and maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that the schedules for all NPH leagues and tournaments are up to date and meet all defined requirements & restrictions
- Thoroughly understand the operations roles in order to regularly delegate tasks and ensure performance, providing feedback and guidance when necessary with the help of the Assistant Operations Manager
- Generate staff task schedules and ensure that the operations staff adhere to the defined schedules
- Collaborate with the Head of Referees to schedule referees and effectively communicate any relevant information related to referee performance
- Procure awards and other materials required for the NPH League & other events
- Oversee the event set up & tear down processes to ensure they are done correctly and efficiently, adhering to all relevant safety standards and regulations
- Work closely with waivers, referee assessment forms, complaint forms, incident reports, league handbook and other relevant event-related documentation
- Track department expenses and door ticket revenue to ensure accurate financial records are maintained
- Manage relationships with venue staff
- Communicate with teams and quickly resolve any issues or concerns that may arise
- Report any facility-related incidents such as broken change room walls or ceiling leaks to facility management
- Train Assistant Operations Manager and top tier Operations Correspondents in order to multiply effectively
- Be present & oversee all event days to ensure smooth operations and prompt resolution of any in-event issues that may arise, such as fights, injuries or otherwise
- Participate in weekly leadership meetings and provide written reports to the senior leadership and other department heads, describing the operations department’s activities from the past week and the planned activities & goals for the upcoming week, as well as note suggestions for improvement
- Provide monthly reports of departmental activities to senior leadership and set “next month” goals with the senior leadership
- Work closely with other departments within the company, collaborating with the other department heads throughout all stages of the NPH leagues, tournaments and camps
- Communicate the senior leadership’s vision to the operations staff as a way of providing a unified sense of direction and purpose
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- 1+ year experience managing an established organization’s operations
- Team player with great interpersonal skills and a passion for the sport of basketball
- Strong communication & problem-solving skills are required
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and leading & coordinating multiple, complex projects simultaneously
- Available to work in-person as well as online, and to occasionally travel between various locations as required
- Operations / sports management or related degree/diploma is a bonus
- Deep understanding of organizational processes and related flows
- Previous management of 1 or more operations team members is preferred
- Previous operations experience within the basketball industry (or the sports industry in general) is a bonus
