ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting to the Lead Statistician and the Assistant Operations Manager, the Operations Correspondent is an entry level in-event role into the Canadian Basketball ecosystem. It is an opportunity to learn all elements of the NPH operations department, and form relationships with industry professionals, and the basketball community (clubs, players, coaches, referees, parents, fans, etc). Mastering this role, allows for further growth opportunities with the North Pole Hoops organization in various departments: marketing, scouting, video, sponsorship, mentorship and beyond.

In this Level 1 role, the most important traits that will determine further growth, which will be demonstrated through the duration in this role are: trust, reliability, professionalism, discipline, consistency, commitment, focus, and work ethic, all intangible traits determined through time. 

An Operations Correspondent will serve in league statistics-related activities, front desk customer service, game scheduling, set up / take down at North Pole Hoops, ensuring processes and standards are followed. The Operations Correspondent is expected to follow and promote our philosophy of: 1. lead yourself, 2. support your team and 3. execute tasks.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support or man the front desk / court entrance when required
  • Participate in the set up of gate, signage, chairs, bleachers to ensure all NPH events are ready to begin from an operational standpoint
  • Ensure all game score sheet data is inputted on the league portion of the NPH website, performing quality control to ensure the website data is matching the score sheet data
  • Communicate the inputted stats & results to the marketing team immediately upon data entry
  • Contribute a statistical perspective on social media (e.g. post standings / results / top players / top teams on personal social media accounts)
  • Ensure the NPH office is tidy, organized and ready to be used for team members, reminding team members to follow the office code of conduct when necessary
  • Maintain presence of NPH rule signage within the facility
  • Report any facility-related incidents (e.g. broken change room walls, ceiling leaks, etc). to the operations leadership
  • Report any game-related incidents (e.g. fights, injuries, etc) to the operations leadership
  • Execute operational processes, procedures and checklists
  • Frequently use Slack to communicate, receive & executive tasks according to the assigned schedules
  • Coordinate with leadership to develop personal growth plan, sharing goals, interests, passion and vision

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Team player with great interpersonal skills and a passion for the sport of basketball
  • Strong communication skills are required
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Available to work in-person in Burlington, ON
  • Operations / sports management or related degree/diploma is preferred
  • Previous operations experience within the basketball industry (or the sports industry in general) is a bonus
  • Solution-based mindset
