No league games in week 7 for Ridley College, but they will have their hands full this upcoming weekend, as they will be taking part in the second edition of Basketbull in Massachusetts, getting off on the right foot with an 85-64 win over Winchendon yesterday. Off of the court, starting Forward Malcolm Bailey was given an official NCAA Division 1 offer from Binghamton  University.

4. RISE Prep (Brantford, Ontario)

RISE had an uncharacteristically rough week that finished with them 1-3 overall. First, they went 1-2 at the Basketbull Showcase in Springfield, Massachusetts, and followed that up with a surprising 24 point loss to Thornlea. Coach Jeremie Kayeye lamented that the team will have plenty to take away from such a tough week, and should be back to form before the end of 2018.

5. Thornlea (Thornhill, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 5 Ranking Change: None League Record: 7-5 Overall Record: 11-6 Week 7 Wins: St. Thomas More (71-50), RISE Prep (102-78) Week 7 Losses: King’s Christian (70-60), Northfield Mount Hermon (99-91)

Thornlea continues their Jackal/Hyde streak in week 7, but remains in the top 5 after a dominant performance over St. Thomas More over the weekend, and RISE Prep Tuesday night. When this team is firing on all cylinders, they’ve proven they could reach as high as number one in the country, but consistency will remain a key factor for them going into 2019. Luckily for the Thunder, they have one last chance at a very stacked Sun Youth Tournament in Montreal this weekend to prove once and for all that they can get there before 2018 is out.

6. TRC Academy (Brantford, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: Ranking Change: Up 1 League Record: 8-0 Overall Record: 14-5 Week 7 Wins: Springfield Commonwealth (77-62), Loomis Chaffee-Connecticut (77-68) Week 7 Losses: New Hampton (79-75)

TRC Academy had the strongest showing of a Canadian program at the first Basketbull Showcase this past weekend going 2-1, and as a result move up a spot for week 7. They then followed that up with an 82-72 win over King’s Christian in league play, right after King’s had upset number 5 ranked Thornlea earlier in the week. Few expected the defending champs to be undefeated at this point in the season, but they have shown time and again just how deep their roster is, a factor that can mean almost everything at this level of basketball. This has also been a master class of coaching so far this season by head coach Tyrell Vernon, plain and simple.

7. Crestwood Prep (North York, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 6 Ranking Change: Down 1 League Record: 7-2 Overall Record: 15-4 Week 7 Wins: Metro Prep Week 7 Losses: None

A blowout win over Metro Prep keeps Crestwood in the top 10 for week 7. Their schedule will ramp back up in 2019 as the prep roster enjoys their Christmas break.

8. Father Henry Carr (Rexdale, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 8 Ranking Change: None League Record:7-2 Overall Record: 13-6 Week 7 Wins: None Week 7 Losses: Woodstock Prep (79-76), West Nottingham Prep (99-85)

Despite an 0-2 record at the St. Andrew’s Holiday Classic in Rhode Island, FHC managed to rep Canada well on their road trip. Kobe Lam had two 20+ games in front of a number of NCAA scouts, and has begun to hit his offensive stride going into 2019.

9. Rothesay Netherwood (Rothesay, New Brunswick)

Last Week Ranking: Ranking Change:Up 1 League Record: 7-3 Overall Record: 17-5 Week 7 Wins: Leo Hayes, BMHS (116-66), Kennebecasis Valley High School (123-46), BMHS (105-66) Week 7 Losses: None

Rothesay went 4-0 in the Rick Cotter Classic in a dominant performance this past weekend to hold on to their 9 spot in the rankings. Caleb Sooley and Mathew Penner had 24 and 20 respectively in their opening round matchup against Leo Hayes, while Kellen Tynes picked up Tournament MVP honours.

10. Southwest Academy (London, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 10 Ranking Change: Down 1 League Record: 5-2 Overall Record: 11-6 Week 7 Wins: Don Bosco Prep (105-96) Week 7 Losses: South Suburban

Southwest went .500 in Chicago over the weekend, with Kobe Elvis specifically continuing to boost his recruiting value over that trip. Elvis truly has been a breakout performer in the OSBA this season, and along with a scrappy roster that can knock down big shots, is the reason Southwest gets to enjoy the shine they’ve earned through the first half of the season.

11. King’s Christian (Oakville, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 13 Ranking Change: Up 2 League Record: 8-6 Overall Record: 11-7 Week 7 Wins: Thornlea (70-60) Week 7 Losses: TRC Academy (82-72)

A 10 point loss to TRC last night may have been disappointing, but King’s Christian has still earned a move up in the rankings after a considerable upset win earlier in the week over Thornlea. King’s will get one more crack at a top 10 spot before 2018 is out when they begin their schedule at the Sun Youth Holiday Classic later this morning.

12. Vaughan (Vaughan, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 11 Ranking Change: Down 1 League Record: 4-6 Overall Record: 10-14 Week 7 Wins:  Week 7 Losses: Orangeville Prep (117-87)

After climbing up the rankings with some impressive wins, Vaughan was unable to climb back to .500 in league play against top ranked Orangeville Prep. Wazir Latiff had 32 in the loss while Ryan Brooks had 20. Vaughan will have a quick turnaround, however, and are off to the Sun Youth Tournament this coming week where they, like a few other programs on this list, have a chance to make a considerable jump in the rankings before 2018 is out.

13. Halifax Prep (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

Last Week Ranking: 12 Ranking Change: Down 1 League Record: 7-3 Overall Record: 9-3 Week 7 Wins: None Week 7 Losses: None

https://twitter.com/CoachEatonn/status/1075357292013457408

14. Edge School (Calgary, Alberta)

Last Week Ranking: 14 Ranking Change: None League Record: 5-3 Overall Record: 5-4 Week 7 Wins: None Week 7 Losses: Findlay Prep (41-39)

It’s Tarkanian time again! And this time around Edge School out of Calgary made their first ever appearance, and what a debut it was, as they were matched up against the world renowned Findlay Prep out of Las Vegas.Edge nearly came away with the win to top it off, losing a 41-39 nail biter in the process.

15. GTA Prep (Brampton, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking:15 Ranking Change: None League Record: 5-5 Overall Record: 5-10 Week 7 Wins: None Week 7 Losses: None

Last Week Ranking: 16 Ranking Change:  League Record: 4-3 Overall Record: 6-7 Week 7 Wins: None Week 7 Losses: Putnam Science Varsity (76-69)

A loss to Putnam’s Varsity team at the beginning of the second week of the Basketbull Showcase in Springfield was not how TBA would’ve liked to begin their schedule, but it still isn’t enough to knock them down from 16. Up next for them is a game against Woodstock Blue later this morning at 11am.

17. Lincoln Prep (Hamilton, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 17 Ranking Change:None League Record: 5-5 Overall Record: 5-12 Week 7 Wins: None Week 7 Losses: None

Every single one of their five wins in the past seven days came against either a team on our bubble list, or were ranked in the top 25 at some point throughout the season. They managed to take home the Rimrocker crown this past week, the largest tournament in the region of Peel , led by the scoring of Latrelle Gonzales.
