Last Week Ranking: Ranking Change: None League Record: 8-1 Overall Record: 15-3 Week 6 Wins: None Week 6 Losses: None

Despite not having any games on the schedule, Orangeville Prep still made headlines on the commitment front, with 2019 forward Jevonnie Scott committing to the 2018 NJCAA national champions, South Plains College. Despite being without their top player, Moun Reath, CTA handled business at the Vaughan Prep Classic this past weekend. Most impressive about the performance would be that four different players led CTA in scoring in each of their games. Lual Akot, Enoch Kalambay, Ankit Choudhary, and Stephane Okenge each recorded game highs for their squad in each game. With another perfect weekend added to their record, CTA sits comfortably at the number two spot in the country for week 6.

RISE had the week off, but some interesting stats have come out that definitely has RISE looking as deadly as ever. Miguel Tomley is currently leading the OSBA in scoring with 28.5 PPG, while Rhamir Moore is third with 23.9. RISE’s next league play will be this Tuesday against Thornlea that could have some huge implications in the top five.

4. Ridley College (St. Catherines, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 4 Ranking Change: None League Record: 7-2 Overall Record: 15-6 Week 6 Wins: Lincoln Prep (72-69) Week 6 Losses: None

Ridley managed to follow through with a win after the announcement of their star big man Jaden Bediako and his commitment to Santa Clara. Lincoln Prep didn’t make it easy, but a deep three from Noah Wharton with four seconds remaining in the game was enough to keep Ridley in the top five in the country for another week.

5. Thornlea (Thornhill, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 5 Ranking Change: None League Record: 7-4 Overall Record: 11-5 Week 6 Wins: None Week 6 Losses: None

A quiet week in the schedule for Thornlea has them remaining in the five spot for the country. They are back in action tonight against King’s Christian in league play, and are then off to Springfield, Massachusetts and the December 19th Basketbull Session.

6. Crestwood Prep (Toronto, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 6 Ranking Change: None League Record: 7-2 Overall Record: 14-4 Week 6 Wins: None Week 6 Losses: None

Crestwood takes the week off and stays at the six spot. Their 14-4 overall record is one of the strongest in the country, and with the emergence of Trevon Thomas as another weapon on an already loaded roster, this team is looking as dangerous as ever.

7. TRC Academy (Brantford, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: Ranking Change: None League Record: 6-0 Overall Record: 10-4 Week 6 Wins:Bill Crothers (106-60)  Week 6 Losses: None

TRC remains undefeated in league play after defeating a young Bill Crothers squad this past week. Six different players had double figures in scoring for the Wolfpack, while this team looks as balanced and motivated as ever. We have been saying it for a few weeks now, don’t sleep on the defending OSBA champs. Their next league game is against King’s Christian on the 19th.

8. Father Henry Carr (Rexdale, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 8 Ranking Change: None League Record:7-2 Overall Record: 13-4 Week 6 Wins: None Week 6 Losses: None

No games this week for FHC, but they will be in action this upcoming weekend in the St. Andrew’s Holiday Classic in Rhode Island. Jalen Menzies and company will be looking to get a few more NCAA eyes on them before heading into the holiday break.

9. Rothesay Netherwood (Rothesay, New Brunswick)

Last Week Ranking: 10 Ranking Change:Up 1 League Record: 7-3 Overall Record: 13-5 Week 6 Wins: Halifax Prep (98-89) Week 6 Losses: None

Rothesay closes out their 2018 schedule on a five-game winning streak, and a win over the team right behind them in the national rankings, Halifax Prep. For now, Rothesay has bragging rights as the top prep program in Atlantic Canada. Kellen Tynes had 30 while Caleb Sooley had 19 for Netherwood in the W. The best 1-2 punch in the Maritimes will now have a Christmas break to reflect on what has been the most surprising storyline in the prep circuit across Canada.

10. Southwest Academy (London, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: Ranking Change: Down 1 League Record: 5-2 Overall Record: 11-6 Week 6 Wins: None Week 6 Losses: Lincoln Prep (110-103), Vaughan (109-93)

After a five game winning streak had Southwest cracking the top ten, they have seemingly cooled off these past two weeks with three straight league losses, and slip as a result. Kobe Elvis has still proven to be a scoring machine for this London squad, but both he and the rest of this team will need to get back to the ball movement that made them so deadly in the first half of the year. They will have some time to get back to the drawing board until their January 8th matchup vs TRC Academy.

11. Vaughan (Vaughan, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 17 Ranking Change: Up 6 League Record: 4-5 Overall Record: 10-13 Week 6 Wins: Metro Prep (89-39), d’Youville (69-44), King’s Christian (67-62), Southwest (109-93) Week 6 Losses: CTA (97-86)

Vaughan did all they could to defend homecourt at their annual Prep Classic, and despite falling short to CTA in the final, they have done more than enough to move back up a few spots after a rough start to the month of December. Ryan Brooks breaking his own school record with 56 points in their win over Southwest is just icing on the cake. Brooks is now making a case to be considered one of the top players of his class in the country, not just at his position, with teammate Wazir Latiff not too far behind. Vaughan is now rounding themselves into a legitimate dark horse should they continue this level of play.

12. Halifax Prep (Halifax, Nova Scotia)

Last Week Ranking: 11 Ranking Change: Down 1 League Record: 7-3 Overall Record: 9-3 Week 6 Wins: None Week 6 Losses: RNS (98-89)

The hottest rivalry in Canadian prep basketball at this moment had a new chapter in it this past week, and Halifax was unfortunately on the losing end. Akoi Yuot had 18 points and a ridiculous 18 rebounds in the loss, and continues to make a case as one of the most dominating forwards in the country. Despite the disappointing finish to the 2018 regular season schedule, Halifax is still sitting in a great position to remain in the top 10 conversation for the rest of the season, with a number of players getting heavy looks from both U-Sports and NCAA coaches alike.

13. King’s Christian (Oakville, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 15 Ranking Change: Up 2 League Record: 5-4 Overall Record: 8-5 Week 6 Wins:St. Martin (81-48), St. Francis Xavier (78-59) Week 6 Losses: Vaughan (67-62)

A semi final appearance in the Vaughan Classic over the weekend has King’s Christian bump up a spot in the rankings for Week 6. Alex Nwagha had 23 and 21 in each win, while Luka Sakota had 18 in the loss to Vaughan Prep. Sakota also managed to pick up an All-Star nod for the tournament. They have a shot to possibly break into the top ten before the end of the 2018, if they manage to knock off number 5 Thornlea later tonight in league play.

14. Edge School (Calgary, Alberta)

Last Week Ranking: 13 Ranking Change: Down 1 League Record: 5-3 Overall Record: 5-3 Week 6 Wins: None Week 6 Losses: None

Edge will be back in action in the Tarkanian Classic December 17-22 taking place in Las Vegas. With other schools such as Findlay Prep, Word of God and Prolific Prep in the mix this will be a huge test for the boys out west.

15. GTA Prep (Brampton, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking:14 Ranking Change: Down 1 League Record: 5-5 Overall Record: 5-10 Week 6 Wins:None Week 6 Losses: None

GTA Prep holds their spot after an impressive showing at the Ottawa Session, they have one more stop this month before the year is out.

16. Toronto Basketball Academy (Toronto, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 12 Ranking Change: Down 4 League Record: 4-3 Overall Record: 6-6 Week 6 Wins: Vaughan (HS) (81-66) Week 6 Losses: Central Tech (79-73), Pine Ridge (71-63)

Another 1-2 weekend is not exactly what TBA had in mind going into the Vaughan Prep Classic this past weekend, but that’s what happened. A close loss to old rival Central Tech, followed by another loss in the consolation round to Pine Ridge has TBA slipping a little in the rankings this week. There is a silver lining however, as Amir Golizadeh, Marcus Masters, and Sami Jahan were all leading scorers at some point throughout the weekend. Recruitment wise, this is a roster that still has plenty of kids that are ready to contribute at the college level by next season.

17. Lincoln Prep (Hamilton, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 18 Ranking Change: Up 1 League Record: 5-5 Overall Record: 5-12 Week 6 Wins: Southwest (110-103) Week 6 Losses: Ridley College (72-69)

An impressive win over a red hot Southwest at the time, coupled with a last possession loss to number four Ridley has Lincoln back up a few spots in the rankings. Brandon Aultman had his hands full against Jaden Bediako last night in the paint, but managed to force the big man into a number of tough shots. Aultman could be an x factor in 2019 for this squad if he manages to gain a little more balance when protecting the rim.

18. Pine Ridge (Pickering, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 19 Ranking Change: Up 1 League Record: 2-0 Overall Record: 16-4 Week 6 Wins: AI Black (78-59), TBA (71-63) Week 6 Losses: CTA (86-76)

When this team presses, they are something to watch. Two wins over prep programs and a ten point loss to number two CTA has done nothing but continue to solidify Pine Ridge as the OFSAA favorites this season. This team can shoot and play some of the most aggressive defence we’ve seen on the court so far this year. This weekend proves however that no matter what pedigree of team they face, they will continue to be a tough out. One more thing, can someone please get Shak Pryce a scholarship already?

19. Saskatoon Basketball Academy (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan)

Last Week Ranking: 16 Ranking Change: Down 2 League Record: 4-4 Overall Record: 4-4 Week 6 Wins: None Week 6 Losses: None

Saskatoon drops a few spots after the wins by a few teams above them. They still remain one of the most athletic and well organized teams in the country, their previous appearance at the central session proves that.

20. Central Tech (Toronto, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 21 Ranking Change: Up 1 League Record: 3-8 Overall Record: 12-13 Week 6 Wins:St. Marcellinus (74-41), TBA (79-73)  Week 6 Losses: CTA (78-70)

A strong showing at the Vaughan classic has Central Tech back up a few spots in the rankings this week. Jamal Fuller had 24 in their back and forth battle with number two ranked CTA in the semi finals, while Kaylem Liburd-Mullings notching 21 in their victory over their old prep rival TBA. After a tough stretch in their league schedule, Central Tech has managed to remind everyone over the weekend that when confident, they can still hang with anyone in the country.

21. St. Francis Xavier (Mississauga, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 24 Ranking Change:Up 3 League Record: 3-0 Overall Record: 14-3 Week 6 Wins: Loyola (87-35), Turner Fenton (76-35), LBA (64-63), d’Youville (73-65) Week 6 Losses: King’s Christian (78-59)

Another team with an impressive showing at the Vaughan Classic, St. Francis Xavier has managed to crack the top 20 yet again with a win over a prep program, while managing to remain perfect in league action. They will be taking on St. Joseph S.S. in ROPSSAA action later today to try and remain perfect in their quest back to OFSSAA.

22. London Basketball Academy (London, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 20 Ranking Change: None  League Record: 2-2 Overall Record: 7-6 Week 6 Wins: St. Martin (62-55), AI Red (50-44) Week 6 Losses: St. Francis Xavier (64-63)

A 2-1 finish at the Vaughan Classic keeps LBA in the top 20. Three different players led London in scoring in each of their three games including Marcus Stewart, Denzel Cummins, and Isaiah Lee.

23. Oakville Prep (Oakville, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: 22 Ranking Change: Down 1 League Record: 1-4 Overall Record: 2-6 Week 6 Wins:  Week 6 Losses:

24. Saint Laurent (Montreal, Quebec)

Last Week Ranking: 23 Ranking Change: Down 1` League Record: 1-3 Overall Record: 1-3 Week 6 Wins:  Week 6 Losses:

Saint Laurent is coming off of a 21 point victory over Jeanne Mance this past week in league play. Next up for the Express is Dorval Jean 23rd this Sunday. After that they will be in the SYO Classic from the 21st to the 23rd.

25. St. Marguerite d’Youville (Brampton, Ontario)

Last Week Ranking: None Ranking Change:N/A League Record: 4-0 Overall Record: N/A Week 6 Wins: AI Red (64-54),   Week 6 Losses: Vaughan (65-44), St. Francis Xavier (73-65)

d’Youville is back in the rankings this week after a tough performance at the Vaughan Claccis. Rashaun Tapper and the rest of the panthers remain undefeated in ROPSSAA play and remain the favourites to come out of the north division to challenge Xavier for the ROPSSAA title and a trip to OFSSAA
