Canadians to look out for in NBA Summer League

Dillon Brooks: Memphis Grizzlies (Vegas)

Dillon Brooks is a 6’7 small forward from Mississauga, ON and spent three years with the Oregon Ducks. He was drafted 45th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets but was immediately traded to the Grizzlies. Brooks was awarded the 2017 Pac-12 Player of the Year averaging 16.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists in his junior year. Memphis begins their 2017 Summer League action July 8 in Vegas.

 

Naz Mitrou-Long: Indiana Pacers (Orlando) – Sacramento Kings (Vegas)

Naz Mitrou-Long is a 6’4 combo guard from Mississauga, ON. Long spent four year at Iowa State University building a reputation of one of the best shooters in the Big-12. Long averaged 15 points and a 47% field goal percentage in his senior year. He has played with the Pacers in Orlando, and will now be on the move to play with the Kings when they start on July 7 in Vegas.

Xavier Rathan-Mayes: New York Knicks (Vegas)

Xavier Rathan-Mayes is a highly skilled 6’4 guard from Markham, ON. Rathan-Mayes spent three years at Florida State where he averaged 10 points and 4.8 assists in his junior year.

Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek said, “Xavier plays hard, he can pick guys up and defend full court. He’s strong enough to get in there and make some shots.”

Rathan-Mayes strong start in the NBA Summer League gives him a chance to be invited to the Knicks training camp.

Chris Boucher: Golden State Warriors (Vegas)

Chris Boucher is a 6’10 forward from Montreal, QC and spent two years at Oregon. Boucher went un-drafted during the 2017 NBA Draft but quickly signed a two-way contract with the Warriors. He suffered a torn ACL in the Pac-12 tournament, which affected his draft stock. Boucher has been working hard in rehabilitation and happy to be with the Warriors. The Warriors being their Summer League action on July 8 in Vegas.

Dylan Ennis: Oklahoma City Thunder (Orlando) – Golden State Warriors (Vegas)

Dylan Ennis is a 6’2 guard from Brampton, ON and spent two years at Oregon. In his senior season with Oregon he averaged 11 points, 4.4 assists and 3.1 rebounds. Ennis will be wrapping up his time with the Thunder on July 5 and will then be playing with the 2017 NBA Champs on July 8 in Vegas.

Kris Joseph: Charlotte Hornets (Orlando)

Kris Joseph is a 6’7 small forward from Montreal, QC and has recently been playing for New Basket Enel Brindisi in the LBA. The Celtics drafted Joseph in 2012 but eventually found a home in Europe. Joseph averaged 7.7 points on 40% shooting and adding 3.3 rebounds last season in the LBA.

Olivier Hanlan: San Antonio Spurs (Utah & Vegas)

Olivier Hanlan is 6’4 guard from Aylmer, QC and has been recently playing for Le Mans Sartre Basket in the LNB Pro A. The Utah Jazz drafted Hanlan in 2015 and later traded his rights to the Spurs in 2016 before moving to Europe. Hanlan will be playing with the Spurs Summer League team in both Utah and Vegas.

Kevin Pangos: Washington Wizards (Vegas)

Kevin Pangos is a 6’2 point guard from Holland Landing, ON and has been playing for Zalgiris Kaunas in the LKL and the EuroLeague. Pangos had a very successful career in college playing for the Gonzaga Bulldogs and was named the 2015 WCC Player of the Year. The sharpshooter averaged 8.7 points and had a 45% 3PT %. Pangos will play with the Wizards on July 8 in Vegas.

Justin Edwards: Toronto Raptors (Vegas)

Justin Edwards is a 6’4 guard from Whitby, ON and has been playing for Alba Fnhérvár Basket in Hungary. Edwards has most recently thrived in the FIBA Europe Cup. In 12 games he averaged 16.9 points on 48.7% shooting, also contributing 4.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.9 steals. Edwards will be with the hometown Raptors starting on July 7 in Vegas.
