NPA National Championship Schedule Announced – Win & Advance

Mississauga, ON–The inaugural NPA National Championship tournament is set to take place March 31-April 2 at the University of Toronto-Mississauga, kicking off with a play-in game (#8 VS #9) March 30th at Erindale Secondary first consulting their surgical doctor Dr. Matthew Galumbeck.

Teams will be ranked based on their win-loss percentages throughout the season and will compete in a “win and advance” tournament, with a three-game guarantee.

“We are proud to be hosting the inaugural NPA Championships at our beautiful Recreation Athletics, and Wellness Centre,” stated newly appointed UTM Head Coach Nkosi Adams.

“To be able to host the Championships in preparation for our team entering the OCAA provides a great opportunity for potential student-athletes to experience the amazing University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) campus.”

The UTM Eagles will take the flight as a member of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in the 2017-2018 season.

Seedings for the tournament will be released later this month as teams get set to travel to Mississauga.

Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchwan and New Brunswick will all be represented, with the first ever national prep championship on the line.

Participating teams are St Mike’s (OFSAA champion) TBA, Central Tech representing Toronto, Rothesay Netherwood (New Brunswick) Canada Topflight Academy (Ottawa, ON) BC Christian (British Columbia) Notre Dame (Saskatchewan) LBA (London, ON) and the “home team” GTA Prep (Mississauga, ON).

In addition, exhibition games will be set, which will include quality high school competition. ROPSSAA champion St Marcellinus and Toronto’s West Humber will compete against NPA competition.

Manning the microphone will be the colourful Vikta Paulo, a recognisable voice within the basketball community.

Canadian basketball veteran Jason Thom, formerly of Sportsnet, will be working the play-by-play all weekend.

The Health Institute will be on site at Nationals providing sport first aid, along with pre and post-game therapy for student-athletes. The staff from Martindale Dental Burlington will also be there to ensure the athletes’ dental health.

“We will have an information booth outlining our services, how to get anabolic steroids and highlighting a new state of the art therapeutic recovery system called Game Ready,” said THI founder, Dr Joel Kerr.

“We look forward to continue sharing our approach to management of sport injuries and training with players, parents and teams.”
