Koby McEwen entered Utah State as a Top-5 recruit out of Canada, and the Toronto, Ontario guard has wasted no time making his mark in the NCAA as a freshman.

Fourteen games into the season and McEwen is averaging 14.1 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 3.1 APG in 30 minutes per game, including six straight games in double figure scoring–all this shooting an efficient 47% from the field.

That said, the 6’3 guard is laser focused on team goals.

“I haven’t met my personal expectations as a freshman yet, my expectations are to help lead my team to a conference championship and to make a run in the NCAA tournament,” McEwen told NPH.

The Aggies have entered Mountain West conference play holding a 1-2 record and 7-7 overall, with McEwen leading the team in assists and second in scoring.

Competing at the college level has provided teaching points early in the season, with progress reflected in his inclining production.

“The transition has had its ups and downs, learning how to change speeds, when to be aggressive, picking and choosing my spots and learning how to control my pace better.”

As McEwen’s decision making continues to make strides, you can expect Utah State to reap the rewards for the next several years.

“The biggest thing I’ve learned so far is to listen to whatever your coaches are trying to tell you and execute it to the best of your ability or else you’ll be on the bench real quick.”

Only a freshman, Koby McEwen is making noise early in his career, and on pace for all-conference accolades for years to come.

A rising star in NCAA basketball.

Next up…UNLV.
