Canada will try to finish pool play 3-0 today with this next game against China. There is expectation that they will beat China while continuing to use the full roster and finish 1st in Pool C before taking a rest day, which will be followed by the round of 16.

This year’s team has a mix of guys that were on the U16 roster last year, as well as new members that have proven their worth at this level and on this stage. While anyone on the starting lineup is capable of sparking a scoring run, different pieces off the bench can do the same, as we saw in yesterday’s game against Finland where Emmanuel Akot chipped in with 14 points on 71% from the field.

Guys like Akot, fellow Manitoba native Daniel Sackey and Stefan Smith are all spark plugs off the bench. Ottawa, Ontario product Noah Kirkwood, hasn’t played as many minutes as last year, however we can see that changing in future games towards the Championship. He brings experience and is ready for the moment.
