NC-Double-Eh Men’s Player of the Week – Stefan Jankovic, Hawaii

Stefan Jankovic had been a steady inside/outside force for Hawaii this season and is coming on of late.  Last week he averaged 29.5 points, 7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and a block in 30.5 minutes in his team’s two games.  He shot 19-of-25 from the floor, 4-of-6 from the three and 17-of-22 from the line to earn NC-Double-Eh Player of the Week.

In Hawaii’s 69-63 win over CS-Northridge Feb. 18, Jankovic had a career high 34 points to go with 8 rebounds and 2 blocks in 32 minutes.  He shot a near perfect 12-of-13 from the floor, 2-of-3 from the trey and he made 8-of-10 from the stripe.

In Warriors’ 75-71 win over UC Irvine three days later Jankovic was just as impressive going for 25 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in 29 minutes.  He shot 7-of-12 from the field, 2-of-3 from behind the arc and 9-of-12 from the foul line also.

On the year, Jankovic is averaging 16 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks in 24.5 minutes of action.  He’s shooting 57.2% from the floor, 40.7% from the three and 75.4% from the line.

Honorable Mention: Agunwa Okolie, Harvard – 18 ppg, 6 rpg, 2.5 apg, 14-of-21 FGs, 7-of-11 FTs, 31 mpg in two games.

NC-Double-Eh Rookie of the Week – Jamal Murray, Kentucky

The dream season continues for freshman Jamal Murray.  The Kitchener, ON product was impressive this past week for Kentucky averaging 24.5 points, 5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 38.5 minutes per game.  He shot 14-of-28 from the floor, 7-of-16 from the three and 14-of-16 from the line to earn NC-Double-Eh Men’s Rookie of the Week.

In Kentucky’s 80-70 win over Tennessee Feb. 18, Murray went for 28 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and a block in 35 minutes.  He shot 8-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc and made 9-of-20 from the free throw line.

In the Wildcats’ 79-77 OT loss to Texas A&M Feb. 20, Murray had 21 points, 1 rebound and an assist in 42 minutes.  He shot 6-of-16 from the floor, 4-of-10 from the arc and 5-of-6 from the line.

On the season, Murray is averaging 19.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 34.7 minutes per game.  He’s shooting 44.4% from the field, 40.3% from the three and 77.5% from the stripe.

Honorable Mention: Joseph Chartouny, Fordham – 12 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 8.5 apg, 1.5 spg, 6-of-22 FGs, 10-of-12 FTs, 38.5 mpg in two games.

NC-Double-Eh Women’s Player of the Week – Jamie Weisner, Oregon St

Jamie Weisner continues make her case for PAC-12 Player of the Year after having another great week for Oregon St.  In two games she averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in 31 minutes of action.  She shot 13-of-30 from the floor, 5-of-11 from the three and 12-of-13 from the stripe on her way to being names NC-Double-Eh Women’s Player of the Week.

In Oregon St’s 76-52 win over USC Feb. 19, Weisner went for 18 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and a steal in 25 minutes of action.  She shot 6-of-14 from the field and made all five of her free throws.

In the Beavers’ 64-54 win over UCLA three days later, Weisner had 25 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in 37 minutes of action.  She shot 7-of-16 from floor, 4-of-6 from the trey and made 7-of-8 from the line.

For the season, Weisner is averaging is averaing 17.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.2 steals in 30.7 minutes.  She’s shooting 48.8% from the floor, 43.4% from the arc and 87.4% from the line.

Honorable Mention:  Nirra Fields, UCLA – 21.5 ppg, 5 rpg, 2 spg, 32 mpg in two games.

NC-Double-Eh Women’s Rookie of the Week – Lauren Handy, Vermont

It seems like Vermont had one of the four Canadian rookies playing really play more like an upperclassmen each week and this time it Lauren Handy.  In the Catamounts’ two games this past week, she averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds and a block in 26.5 minutes of action.  She shot 9-of-19 from the floor and 5-of-12 from the three on her way to earn our NC-Double-Eh Women’s Rookie of the Week.

In Vermont’s 66-52 loss to Binghamton Feb. 16, Handy had a season high 17 points to go with 3 rebounds and a block in 28 minutes.  She shot 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from behind the arc and made her only free throw.

In the Catamounts’ 74-60 loss to UMBC five days later Handy had 7 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and a block in 25 minutes.  She went 3-of-9 from the field also.

On the season Handy is averaging 3.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 10.7 minutes per game.

Honorable Mention:  Candice Wright, Vermont – 12 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1 apg, 1 spg, 1.5 bpg, 23 mpg in two games.
