Wiltjer Earns Another NC-Double-Eh Player of the Week – Week 13

Men’s Player of the Week

Kyle Wiltjer, Gonzaga

Kyle Wiltjer seems to show not signs of slowing down helping the Gonzaga Bulldogs to two wins last week. He averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds and an assist in 27.5 minutes. He shot 11-of-22 from the floor, 5-of-11 from the trey and 7-of-9 from the line to not only earn West Coast Conference Player of the Week but also our NC-Double-Eh Men’s Player of the Week.

In Gonzaga’s 80-51 win over Loyola Marymount February 12, Wiltjer went for his second consecutive double-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and a block in 26 minutes.   He shot 7-of-14 from the field, 4-of-7 from behind the arc, and 3-of-5 from the line.

In the Zags’ game on Valentine’s Day, Wiltjer had 13 points, 6 rebounds and an assist in 29 minutes. He shot 4-of-8 from the floor and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the stripe.

On the year Wiltjer is averaging 16.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 26.5 minutes. He’s shooting 53.8% from the field, 44.4% from the arc and 80.3% from the foul line.

Jarryn Skeete, Buffalo – 16 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2 apg, 1 spg, 8-of-18 FGs, 6-of-13 3-PT FGs, 10-of-10 FTs, 32.5 mpg in two games.

Men’s Rookie of the Week

Tevonn Walker, Valparaiso

Freshman Tevonn Walker continues to play like a vet helping the Valparaiso Crusaders to two wins and first place in the Horizon League. In the games, he averaged 16 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2.5 steals in 33 minutes of action. He shot 13-of-26 from the field, 2-of-2 from the three and making four foul shots. He earned the Horizon League Newcomer of the Week and has also won our NC-Double-Eh Men’s Rookie of the Week.

In Valparaiso’s 63-59 win over Green Bay February 13, Walker had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal in 31 minutes. He shot 7-of-12 from the floor, making both his three attempts, and hitting all four of his free throws.

In the Crusaders’ 62-55 win over Milwaukee two days later, Walker went for 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. He shot 6-of-16 from the field in his 35 minutes.

On the season, Walker is averaging 11.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 27.8 minutes. He’s shooting 44.3% from the floor, 30.4% from behind the arc and 72.2% from the foul line.

Xavier Rathan-Mayes, Florida St – 12.5 ppg, 4 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1 spg, 11-of-24 FGs, 3-of-8 3-PT FGs, 34 mpg in two games.
