Canadian History in the Making

(TORONTO, ON) The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce the details of its inaugural pre-draft combine and the NBL Canada Draft 2011.

“The NBL Canada pre-draft combine and draft will be groundbreaking for the country,” said NationalNBL_logo.jpgBasketball League of Canada President & CEO, Andre Levingston. “The events will mark a new beginning of Canadian basketball talent, and will inspire and encourage the next generation of young Canadian athletes. We’re excited that young Canadians can now dream about being a basketball player in their own country.”

The two-day combine will be held on Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21 at the Seneca College Sports Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Saturday will serve as free agent day, with Sunday dedicated to Canadian players only.

“It’s extremely important to the league that Canadian talent is given a unique opportunity to shine,” says Levingston. “The NBL Canada is committed to developing the nation’s talent, and we encourage those Canadians striving toward a professional career in the sport of Basketball to attend the pre-draft combine and draft.”

The NBL Canada Draft 2011 will be held on Sunday, August 21 at 7:00 pm at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

The draft will consist of three rounds. The first round will draft free agent players only, while the second and third rounds will draft Canadian players only.  Only those players who attend the combine will be eligible for the draft.

The NBL Canada Draft 2011 selection order is as follows:

3. London, Ontario
4. Moncton, New Brunswick
5. Saint John Mill Rats, Saint John,
New Brunswick
6. Halifax Rainmen, Halifax, NS
7. Quebec Kebs, Quebec City, Quebec
